About
Fish Creek is a narrow strip of road between the forest and Green Bay, and Shady Rest sits on a quiet stretch of White Cliff Road — close enough to the water to hear it at night, far enough from the tourist corridor to keep the noise out.
We opened in 2018 with four rooms and a conviction that the best lodging doesn't need a concierge, a pool, or a menu you can't finish. What we offer is a clean bed, a view of the bay, a sauna you heat yourself, and a fire pit where strangers become neighbors.
If you're looking for a resort, this isn't it. If you're looking for a place to sleep well and wake up to still water, you've found it.

Facing the water with a full-length window and a small sitting chair. The pine paneling was salvaged from a boathouse near Sturgeon Bay.
Double · Forest view · 160 sq ft
Looking into the trees rather than the water, this room has a quieter feel. Cedar closet, reading lamp, and a desk if you need to unplug from something.
King · Private balcony · 240 sq ft
Our largest room, with a small balcony you can drink coffee on at dawn. The bed is king, the shower is rain-style, and the curtains close all the way.
Two twins · Garden view · 140 sq ft
Upstairs, under the eaves. Best for friends or siblings who don't mind a steep staircase. The slanted ceiling is charming until you stand up too fast.

Heat it yourself before dinner. Logs are provided. Towels are not — bring your own or ask at check-in.
Right by the water. We keep a bin of dry birch nearby. Bring marshmallows if you want them — we don't.
A shared path leads down to a small dock. Kayaks aren't available, but you can wade in or cast a line off the rocks.
Free Wi-Fi throughout the property and a parking spot for each room. Signal is strong; the forest is too.
No TVs in the rooms. No loud music. The only thing you'll hear after 10 p.m. is the water and the occasional loon.
A percolator on the porch, a thermos of local roast, and paper cups. It's not an espresso machine — it's better.
Location
We're on White Cliff Road, about ten minutes from the village center and twenty from Highway 42. Green Bay is on one side, northern forest on the other. There's no traffic light for twelve miles.
